Do You Feel Sorry For Americans Caught Hiring Illegal Immigrants?

By Rob
Arraynot found. The owner of Annapolis Painting Services pleaded guilty in federal court yesterday to knowingly employing illegal immigrants and then laundering the proceeds from that unlawful activity. Robert Bontempo Jr., 47, of Annapolis' Bay Ridge community, faces up to 15 years in prison and $500,000 in fines
when sentenced Sept. 4 in U.S. District Court in Baltimore, where yesterday's proceedings were held. "If we want to give law-abiding businesses a fair chance to compete, it is essential that we prosecute employers who profit by hiring illegal aliens off the books," U.S. Attorney for Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein said in a prepared statement. Bontempo, who remains free until sentencing, forfeited a large portion of those profits yesterday. Prosecutors said that when Bontempo entered into the plea agreement, he agreed to give up seven homes, 10 vehicles - many of which are used by his painting crews - and more than $26,000 in five separate bank accounts.

That has always been my biggest problem with the illegals. It pushes a lot of honest contractors out of business because they can’t compete with the cut throat prices it promotes.

No. They knew it’s been illegal to hire illegals, and continues to be illegal, therefore bringing it upon themselves.

We need to give law abiding businesses a fair chance to compete, it is even more essential that we prosecute employers who profit by hiring illegal aliens off the books, or on the books.

No. Not at all. They are breaking the law and hiring illegals to undercut paying the fair and legal wage they are required to pay to Americans. It’s greed. Those businesses are the main reason so many illegals come here, and the businesses are shafting Americans just to line their pockets under the table.

How are you not aware?! I can understand paying under the table to get your lawn mowed, but if your from a corporation?
They ask you for your driver’s license number, SSN, and all that other personal crap. Honestly, how will an illegal immigrant have all that? I think if the person was aware of hiring an alien into a corp or franchise, then he needs to get jail.

Yes … I think they are just trying to help the people that are in need think about it if you were in that situation wouldn’t you like someone to help you?… even if we argue over this matter it will never get resolved because America would go down the hill trying to deport every single illegal immigrant out there.

I have no pity whatsoever for anyone who knowingly hires illegal aliens. They deserve jail, and they ought to pay for the deportation of every illegal alien they hired along with their families/dependents.
I do feel sorry for those who have been deceived by illegal aliens who have stolen others’ identities. There are quite a few employers who, despite making every effort to verify that their applicants & employees are legally eligible for employment, end up harmed by lawbreakers’ additional deceits and deceptions, like identity theft.

I really love how people here are b*tching about the “honest” businesses getting beat out by the “greedy” businesses who are hiring illegal immigrants, and saying they’re not paying “honest” Americans the “fair wage”.
It’s CAPITALISM – illegal, but it’s still CAPITALISM. You know… the ideal that’s sooo much better and so non-evil compared to Communism and Socialism, which was what the Cold War was about.
It’s all good when you’re on the good end of the stick, but then you raise a sh/tstorm when it’s working against you.
The USA and the rest of the Western countries have made their bed, now they must sleep in it.

An affidavit, unsealed Wednesday, alleges managers at the Cargill facility in Dayton knowingly hire undocumented immigrants.
In the affidavit, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement special agent writes in October 2007, more than 25 percent of Cargill’s Dayton employees were undocumented immigrants, and Cargill may have been mistreating some of those employees.
“Our immigration laws are very important to enforce, absolutely. But, right now, we’re talking about the abuse of human beings. And I know that goes against the values we share in the valley,” says Rick Castaneda, chair of the Hispanic Services Council in Harrisonburg.
In the affidavit, the ICE special agent cites sources who say Cargill “treats pregnant women different by working them until the very end.” It goes on to say Cargill does this “because they know the employee is an illegal alien and they will not complain.”
Republican Virginia Del. Todd Gilbert serves on the House Committee for Militia, Police, and Public Safety.
“Here in the valley, we’ve seen what concentrated groups of illegal immigrants do to bring in drugs and gangs and all other kinds of influences we would not like to see here,” says Gilbert.
Gilbert represents Page County, which faces double-digit unemployment in this recession.
“To know that a local employer that’s nearby, that could be putting my constituents to work is engaging in this kind of behavior is really reprehensible,” says Gilbert.
“I think it’s a problem for everyone, no matter what side of the issue you fall on. It’s a problem,” says Castaneda. “And, what does it say about the values of our country if this is the way we treat human beings, and we treat people in our community?”
In response to the allegations Cargill spokesperson Rebecca Hayne says, “Cargill is deeply committed to legal compliance, and that means we are never knowingly going to hire an ineligible worker. We have programs in place to ensure we only hire and retain legal workers.”

What did Hoover, Truman, and Eisenhower have in common?
Here is something that should be of great interest for you to pass around.
I didn’t know of this until it was pointed out to me.
Back during The Great Depression, President Herbert Hoover ordered the
deportation of ALL illegal aliens in order to make jobs available to American
    citizens that desperately needed work.
Harry Truman deported over two million Illegal’s after WWII to create jobs
    for returning veterans.
And then again in 1954, President Dwight Eisenhower deported 13 million
Mexican Nationals! The program was called ‘Operation *******’. It was
done so WWII and Korean Veterans would have a better chance at jobs.
It took 2 Years, but they deported them!
Now…if they could deport the illegal’s back then – they could sure do it today?
lf you have doubts about the veracity of this information, enter ‘Operation
*******’, into your favorite search engine and confirm it for yourself.
Reminder: Don’t forget to pay your taxes…
12 million Illegal Aliens are depending on you!

YES! and then I feel sorry for everybody else (American Citizens), including the US Citizen workers. It not only affects the illegals and the employers….it affects us all.http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/…
WASHINGTON — The government’s plan to crack down on illegal workers could cost employers more than $1 billion a year and legal workers billions in lost wages, a study commissioned by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce says.
Those costs are enough to trigger a federal law that would require the Homeland Security Department to analyze more thoroughly the effect of its proposal, said Richard Belzer, a consultant hired by the chamber to do the study. It was made available to The Associated Press on Thursday.
