Will Other States Crack Down On Giving Illegals Drivers Licenses Like Maryland Is?

By Rob
Arraynot found.ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- Thousands of immigrants applying for driver's licenses are having their appointments cancelled by Maryland's Motor Vehicle Administration. The agency has been booking 2,000 appointments a week for drivers who provide foreign documents that lack a U.S. visa stamp. The system allow
ed hundreds of thousands of undocumented immigrants to drive but has made Maryland vulnerable to fraud. But a ban on licenses for illegal immigrants that passed this week is set to go into effect on June 1. It will require drivers to present a Social Security card or other proof that they are in the country legally to get a license. MVA officials say they'll send cancellation letters to the 8,000 applicants who have already made appointments for June.

I hope every State stop issuing Illegal Aliens Driver’s licenses! Illegal means ILLEGAL and if you sneak into this Country you do not deserve any Rights or Privileges! Now what I’m hoping is for the Driver’s Licenses already out there Maryland would go to the address and take back the permits from those who already have them.
It is time that America stands for Americans, and not let any outside influences to dictate whom shall be granted a free pass to be here on OUR land. We all must Fight for two things too. First, fight against any form of Amnesty in any Immigration Bill. Our Economy is too weak at the present to allow any form of Amnesty or access of more Illegal Aliens to grant Citizenship. Also, we need a hold on any new entries into this Country until we can document those already here and use the proper channels to eliminate Non-Documented Illegal Aliens. Then Next we truly need to Fight for our 2nd Amendment Rights, because with fighting just barely outside our Southern Borders, sooner or later it will start effecting the Citizens of the United States. It is your Right to bare Arms and PROTECT yourself, family, and the Good Ole USA!

There are 56 political divisions in the United States and not one of them is allowed under federal law to issue licenses to illegal immigrants. It is just illegal to do so. So how did any state allow this to happen is beyond me.
They should not have to crack down in the first place because they were never allowed to do so. But anyway, I’m glad Maryland is addressing the problem. You have to be a documented or guest worker to apply for special driving privileges, which means the federal government gave you permission to be here in the US.

I hope so! But they have created another problem aiding the defrauding of citizens… if they are accepting Social Security cards as proof of citizenship, are they also providing a system to verify these social security numbers to their rightful holders? Otherwise, stolen identities and other fraudulent attempts by illegal alien invaders will come to haunt them and the citizens the law was meant to protect… remember when the insurance companies instituted the premium for uninsured drivers…., well illegals make up a huge reason! They will drive anyway. They really need the driver’s license to try to blend in, support their stolen identity and other criminal reasons! Deport the illegal aliens!

I wish they would. Here they try to pass a bill every year or they put it on the ballot every year, but the only one keeping it from happening is the voters and the governor.
The democrat legislature passes an illegal alien drivers license bill every year.

    Hopefully.
Why don’t people understand,if you don’t have a drivers license, you aren’t supposed to be behind the wheel of a car.
This BS that it will force them to drive without a license just proves they have no regard for the laws of our country.

Most states do not allow illegal aliens to get driver’s licenses. Only about 7 states do allow it, and in order to comply with the Real ID Act, all states must issue valid licenses only to people who can prove that they are in the USA legally. However, this act could be gutted or pushed back further.
REAL ID Would Bolster National Security http://us.f383.mail.yahoo.com/ym/ShowLet…
The REAL ID Act, which was signed into law May 11, 2005, sets Federal standards for the issuance of driver’s licenses and requires aliens to prove their “legal presence” in the United States. Among its critical reforms, REAL ID requires the expiration date of a temporary foreign visitor’s driver’s license to coincide with the visa expiration date, thereby strengthening the integrity of the driver’s license as a form of identification. REAL ID also includes provisions to prevent terrorists from gaming our asylum system.
The 9/11 Commission’s report stated, “The federal government should set standards for the issuance of birth certificates and sources of identification, such as drivers’ licenses.” REAL ID was designed to close key loopholes that make the country vulnerable to attack.
The 19 terrorists who murdered almost 3,000 Americans on September 11, 2001, had dozens of state-issued driver’s licenses and identification cards. They used these IDs to board the airplanes they turned into weapons as well as to rent cars and apartments, open bank accounts, take flying lessons, and otherwise blend into American society while they planned their attacks.
REAL ID establishes minimum standards for the issuance of driver’s licenses and ID cards that states must meet if these documents are to be recognized by the Federal government as secure proof of identity – a critical step in improving national security. Moreover, by making a visitor’s license expire when his/her visa expires, REAL ID cracks down on the ability of visa overstayers – like two of the 9/11 terrorists – to drive.

This is the first and best thing Maryland has done to fight against illegals, it is about time. I know Maryland has had many groups speaking out about this and states that border MD have also had their say so. Virginia has started cracking down with in the last two years and were busting illegals until there was a halt put on the raids. Penn. has had small towns declare English it’s official language. I hope more and more states follow what has been going on and follow. but until they get racist la raza out of politics, some states will still be prone to giving illegals things they do not deserve. GO Maryland!!

So they’ll drive without a driver’s license, if they hit your car they will just run away because they have no insurance and you’re screwed so becareful when you drive.
There are a lot of states that are giving driver’s licenses for illegal immigrant. Maryland isn’t a good option for the illegal immigrant because it takes a long of time to get a license there, most go to New Mexico and Wasington.

Let’s hope not!….and if they do, they’ll soon see the negative effects of denying them licenses. Illegal immigrants will no longer be able to pull money from their bank accounts if they don’t have debit cards….that affects the economy, and they will no longer be able to purchase auto insurance. That’s means more uninsured motorist on our road ways, and that’ll sky rocket our insurance premiums. Nothing good comes out of it.http://www.totalimmigrationlaw.com/artic…
Ban on Licenses for Illegal Drivers Has Unintended Consequences
Often, when lawmakers attempt to solve a problem by introducing new laws, the laws fix the old problem but introduce several new ones.
But, allegedly in an effort to crack down on “terrorism,” the state tightened its laws and eliminated several acceptable forms of ID. In 2006, applicants for driver’s licenses were required to have a valid Social Security Number or visa.
The actual consequences of this law, though, are much less straightforward. An estimated 300,000 illegal immigrants live in North Carolina, according to sources. As their old driver’s licenses begin to expire, they’re finding themselves unable to get new ones. Without a valid driver’s license, they can’t withdraw money from a bank account or get auto insurance.
States that deny licenses to illegal immigrants (like California) reportedly have higher rates of uninsured drivers than those that offer licenses to this group – in CA, a whopping 25% of drivers are uninsured.
