I have never been there, so I cannot say. I live in Utah and would say that Utah is the most perfect state. Great scenery from alpine mountains to red rock deserts....
Beauty can be at state of mind. Look hard enough for it and you can find it anywhere.

Nope. Too close to DC and all those bureaucrats. Ocean City is great fun, though, or was when I was a kid.

Maryland is the only place I have seen some one go shooting past the exit they want at 70 mph, flip the car in reverse, ON THE BELTWAY to get back to their exit. Most of the most incompatant drivers I have ever seen, across the country have been from Maryland...Also weather in winter sucks and so does the summer

By most standards, I'd say Maryland is a highly desirable place in which to live. It has all the features you've cited plus it ranks among the top 5 states in the Union in both per capita and household incomes. It's also the home of many top notch employers, health care facilities and institutions of higher learning. It's topography, flora and fauna are so wonderfully diversed that it's often referred to as "America in Miniature"!
Be that as it may, something that's deemed "perfect" to some (you and me) may not be so to others. For example, those who have visited the Eastern Shore of the state often complained about the combination of high temperature and oppressive humidity in the summertime, the tropical storms and even tornadoes.
Wage earners, especially those who live in the larger urban areas like Baltimore, feel that the state and city income taxes, especially the combination thereof, are too high compared to other states and cities. Some Republicans feel that the state is too Democratic or Democratic-leaning (this has indeed historically been true, based on election results over the years). Additionally, a small number of WASPS I've run into (obviously of the racist type and unfortunately they do exist) have privately remarked that they moved away because the state has a disproportionate number of minorities, especially African-Americans.
So there, it's a wonderful place in the eyes of many (myself included) but obviously no place is perfect for everyone, even to those who like most of what it has to offer.
