All the pets that I've searched for on the internet at places such as Petsfinder.com and others like that have not produced anything that I was looking for.
Any suggestions?
Your first thing to do is think about what you want. You mentioned terrier type breeds. Do you know why their owners affectionately call them “terrors?” Make sure you’re up for it!
After you decide on the breed or mix, contact rescues for those breeds in your area. Often the purebred rescues can’t “officially” place mixes, but they may well inform you of what they know on the side!
Sometimes if only a perfect, young dog will do, you need to think about responsible breeders. MD is a good place to find many breeds. Go on http://www.infodog.com, look for a dog show and go! Meet the dogs of the breeds you are intersted in. Meet the people who show, love and breed them. Sometimes, they know of dogs you might be interested in. Doesn’t hurt to meet some people, some dogs, and gain more info!
